About us

We offer good food, peace and quiet as well as forest and lake directly adjacent to the Manor.

The surrounding nature is largely untouched, which makes the farm almost unique in the Stockholm area. One of the big city’s advantages is communications. It is easy and quick to get to Balingsholm both by car and public transport. Commuter train to Huddinge center or long-distance train to Flemingsberg. Balingsholm is suitable for both private individuals and companies. We offer a conference in a manor setting – Break away from everyday life and gather the work group in a secluded, scenic and creative environment.

From royal court to manor

The manor was built in 1906 by builder Tisell and then acquired by the court administration as a residence for Gustaf V’s youngest son, Prince Erik, who lived here until 1916.

The next owner of Balingsholm was civil engineer Frank Hirsch. In the early years, the family used Balingsholm as a summer residence, after restoration, Frank Hirsch moved here with his wife Ina and daughter Karin. It is the Hirsch family who have left their mark on the environment and charm the old manor still has today.

Above the portal, Frank Hirsch had the text engraved:

“The whole world was at war
however, may peace always prevail here”
1916 * 17

Balingsholm was sold in 1964 to Huddinge municipality, which initially had the most interest in the land that belonged to the property, there were plans to build housing.

Not much housing was built, instead there is still today a vibrant agriculture around the park. The manor house was rented out for party activities during the 20 years that the municipality owned Balingsholm. In 1984 the municipality decided to sell the property to the Soviet Embassy, (Russia). The residents of Huddinge were outraged and the municipality had to back down and put the sale of the manor out to tender.

Gerd Gustafzon was the one who received the tender and started an extensive total renovation. The original buildings have been renovated and expanded with a view to comfort and efficiency for today’s meetings. The current operation was started on March 4, 1985.

Today, Balingsholm is owned and operated by the Orrvik family. Balingholm is a modern conference facility with a very good reputation, known for its fine environment, its good manor kitchen and its personal service.

There are nice historical pictures of Balingsholm at the Stockholm County Museum.
